Through the Core Skills Programme ApP offers a range of
basic staff and management development training.
Core skills for employees
Employee performance may be poor or employees may become
stressed by their work because they lack the core skills
to do their job. ApP therefore offers a range of one-day
training courses to help improve this situation. Courses

managing people.
Managers are

managers and

Effective management skills
A one -day course for new managers.
This briefly covers the basics
in a range
of management soft
skills including:
Communication skills
Listening, speaking, and observational skills including
scripts, and non-verbal
cues such as tone of voice and body language.
Effective delegation
This course looks at the need for effective delegation and
explores the difference between effective and ineffective
processes. Delegates are helped to understand the reasons
for ineffective delegation and shown ways to improve.
Time management
This is a pragmatic course where delegates are encouraged
to find the time management techniques that work best for
them personally. Reasons for lack of time are first discussed
and practical solutions given for each. Part of this includes
help with planning and prioritising. Delegates are then
encouraged to make their own action plan and stick to it.
Handling change
All organisations are constantly going through change and
the following course one–day course is designed for
managers about to embark on a change programme.
It will help managers understand and manage the process more
effectively and includes the following:

1. The Working Well Programme
In addition to individual basic skills training ApP
has developed the “Working
Well Programme “
This comprises 5 modules each exploring different management
competencies which encourage employee health and well being. Each
module can be
studied separately
but together the programme provides an ideal management induction course
for new managers. Each module is linked in some way to stress prevention
and presented
after the ApP stress awareness training it provides a tactful way to
train existing mangers who need to improve their softer skills. Click

2. The Healthy Organisation Workshop
This is a one day course which helps managers more effectively
